1999 GMC sierra K2500 BIGGER TIRES?

Recommended Posts

i have a 1999 gmc sierra diesel but its the old body style 1998, stock is 245-75-16 tires. Id like bigger tires. I have swapped the stock steel wheels with the newer alum 16" wheel.

How much larger can i go and what wheels(backspacing would i need). I was told if i went with 265s like me old truck(89K1500 265 were stock) id rub at lock. Im thinking out going 285s what do i need?

with a the 245 i have a snow plow mount and with mud and ruts off road im always getting stuck or scraping my mount.

I have a 99 K3500 and run 265/75/16 I also did the same on my 92 C3500 (sat way lower to ground) Never a rub from either truck nor need for spacers.

Now the 95 K2500 Suburban with the 6.5TD is on 285/75/16s. Only reason thoes fit is because it has a 3" lift. But it does rub strictly on driverside on the fender flare. If that wasnt there it wouldnt rub. And even then its only when turning in certain circumstances not consistantly.
