2016 LCA question

Recommended Posts

Sup guys!

Looking for some help here, as I am in the process of ordering my leveling kit from RC. I emailed them to verify which part number would fit my truck. Their questions were -

- Aluminum or Steel? (i know they are steel based on black color and magnetic positivity)

- Stamped or Cast steel?

question is how can I tell whether my LCA's are Stamped or Cast? I have a few decent pictures of them if someone can verify which one they are. Just want to avoid getting the wrong kit and having to send it back and all that mess.

1) Aluminum are not painted

2) Magnet will not stick

3) Build sheet will say premium suspension package (Not to be confused with z71 or offroad suspension package those are steel)

Sorry, I should have specified my truck a little more.

it is the 2016 1500 w/ the z71 offroad package. I know they are steel, but according to RC, the correct part number varies based on whether they are stamped steel or cast steel.....

I could tell because of the Ranchero shocks :)

I have never heard them ask about stamped vs. cast though. Only Steel vs. Aluminum. Regardless anything that is cast should not have welds on it and looks like those do to me.

X2..................looks like stamped flat stock with welds.

Those look like stamped steel to me. Cast would not have welds.

Do you know the rpo for that? I have z71 so I'm assuming I have cast steel or are these stamped?

Those are the forged lowers and from what I can see, the forged upper as well.

How odd. I never understood why they put different parts in the exact same vehicles... I've had 2 Jeep Cherokees in the past, both same year, same trim, but different transfer cases......strange! :bs:

FYI, in doing some research on these leveling kits (dont know if were looking for info on these or not), it looks like Rough Country are the only ones that claim lower arms to be a concern. I have talked to Procomp, as well as ReadyLift and both say that they are compatible with all kinds of LCA's......

I think it's because most of those are upper spacers that push the whole strut assembly down.

I have the stamped on my 2016 all terrain. The bolts that came with the 2" motofab kit were not long enough. I had to buy longer bolts for their under strut spacer. I put the same leveling kit on a 2016 silverado Z71 with cast and the supplied bolts were perfect. It was only about 1/2" difference between the two, but definitely required longer bolts for the stamped.

Awesome info, thank you for that!

how is the quality of the product/ride?

Also, do you happen to have pics of the motofab level on both? specifically the z71 would be great :) have done some research, but havent been able to come up with a 2016 z71 pic

Thanks!
