1st concern with new 2016 Sierra SLT

Recommended Posts

My Sierra is garage kept. Since new, I would start engine and all the DIC/dashboard display lights would come on and each gauge would cycle, speedo/tach...fluid etc., and settle at normal readings. In the last couple of days, the truck starts fine, gauges cycle, but no backlighting UNTIL I pull out of the garage and engage drive? Anyone have this experience?

When cleaning my dash, I accidentally turned the backlighting that is used when lights are on all the way down. Later that day driving through long underpasses in Atlanta, I thought dash lights were going in/out. Finally figured out the darkness under bridge was kicking on headlights and dash was dimmed. When I came out of underpass, lights would cycle off and I could see dash again. Perhaps your garage is dark enough to trigger auto headlights?

Yea, make sure your dash lights arent turned all the way down, when you pull out of the garage the lights go to daytime mode which is pretty bright.
