1976 Corvette L-48 180 HP. 1964 Malibu SS 283 220 HP. 2015 Silverado 4.3 Ecotec3 285 HP!!

Neither of those other GM cars I owned got close to 28 MPG either. Neither had a six speed with grade logic control or "tow mode" select either. AKA "Sport Mode".

This is my retirement gift to myself. I don't tow anything, I don't pull anything. I don't even haul anything except groceries. I got nothing to prove. I don't show it. I have no place to be that requires 80 mph driving. 3.23 Open differential wouldn't preclude that though. Does get 25 MPG at 70 MPH Interstate, 28+ mpg primary highway @ 55 MPH and whatever the town or city limits are. 22/24 mixed town and country. No not from the error ridden onboard fuel computer but hand calculated from carefully filled "till they puke" fills at the same pump, placement and procedure.

Go-Rhino Polished Stainless Steel Step bars, rollup Lund cover and 1" thick hard rubber bed mat we on it when I bought it. Since then I had sprayed a Line-X bed liner, Premium. Wheel wells ditto. Rustproofing and undercoating. Window Weather-tech rain guards channel mounted. All done at Line-X Sycamore, Illinois. Thanks Dave (owner) and application team Megan and Andrew. Have other modifications in the planning.

I'm second owner stepping in at 1323 miles at two model years of age. Older fella than I bought it then quite driving shortly thereafter. Mature owner then and now. This old boy kept notes and logs and was well on the way to a first rate break in. They kind my father taught me who the army taught him. His first 4.3 (old style) has over 700,000 miles on it. The second over 156,000 miles and looking great! One water pump between them and neither uses oil. Neither rusted out, dented up and beat to death. His advise was; rustproof it, keep it spotless inside and out and outside in the winter and change the darn oil. Drive it, don't beat it. Drive it hard if you like but don't beat it with a stick. I've followed his advice and procedures for some 50+ years and I have never failed to out pace any EPA mileage sticker by a bunch or deliver a quarter million miles trouble free. Let's see how those rules work on "new tech".

I'm an over 60 male and an operating engineer retired. Stationary power plant engineer. Start up specialist. Refineries, gas plants, etc. 40 years oil/gas and chemical. Wore all the hats and paid all the dues. Drag raced two wheelers and four wheelers. 6 kids and 14 grandkids.

Grumpy Bear is a handle the wife gave me. Something about my basic nature she says. You can call me Marty.
