Now want a 2500 HD

Recommended Posts

Okay, so normally we keep our vehicles forever. As in 20 + years. But a year into my new truck we have decided to purchase a larger trailer that is beyond the towing capacity of my current truck. So now I am in search for a used 2500 that has everything that I have on my 1500.

Here is what I have

2015 LT Z71 with leather seats.

It has the 8 inch nav package w touch screen and Bose speakers.

18 inch wheels and black tubular assist steps.

We want to include the tow package with tow mirrors and the trans cooler.

Everytime I try to find one there is nothing with this combo. Do they exist? Or am I looking for a unicorn?

Will an LTZ include leather and the other stuff?

a quick search in my area for used 2500s on cars.com showed most of the LTs having cloth, and LTZs having leather and all the other stuff you're looking for.

Looks like most of them have the integrated brake controller as well.

used trucks with low mileage are snapped faster than a hooker at a biker party. North America loves its trucks. I was looking for a good truck in great shape for like 2 years before I bought new.

I dont know what paid/owe/blackbook on current one but you should look for sure. If I traded in mine today I would only be out a few grand and got to drive for 1.3 year for that.

Always a handful of used HD trucks around here, but you'll need to decide quickly when you see them.

With the '17s coming out soon, I would suspect the '16s will be discounted. So it is possible that a new '16 could be cheaper than used. Something to keep in mind as you shop.

What kind of TT are you looking at?

I now buy a new HD every 3 years - for years I shopped for a 1 year old HD and the used prices are just too close to buying new ...

But the new HD's are not discounted near as much as the 1500's

getting 10-15% off HD sticker is average (my guess) thought Laura Buick GMC will sell for MUCH less (if convenient to your location)

leather/nav/Bose/tow mirrors = LTZ -SLT for the most part...

You got that right. I've tried finding a lease return 2500HD gasser, they are nearly non existent. Once they become available, so are so long in the tooth that I don't want it.

Yes they exist cause I got one. I had the dealer swap my seats to leather as part of the deal for the truck. Everything else you want will come with a SLE package like mine if your going GMC. I also had to have them swap out the 20'' for 18'' tires just like you want. Easy deal to make when purchasing most good lots will do what ever to get a truck sold.

He was looking for Used. However I tend to agree with you he may be stuck going new unless he wants to compromise and or have something with higher mileage.

I to have the truck you are looking for. I bought mine used with 3600 miles on it for about $7000 less than new.

2015 LT Z71 with leather, 8" nav screen w/ Bose, 18" wheels, etc. From what I could gather mine was special ordered and has some stuff out side normal packages.

So far its a great truck and is in a completely different category compared to my last 2004 HD which was a very good truck for me as well.

An LTZ will have heated leather (heated and cooled optional), 8" mylink (NAV optional), bose and 18" wheels standard. Tow package and trans coolers are standard. Tow mirrors and steps are optional.

We are looking for one that is around 28feet with at least two slide-outs. The brand that I am looking at has numerous models with weight starting at 10,000 pounds for their 24 feet going up to 18,000 pounds for their 32 feet. I have several options that are in the 26 to 28 feet range that they are willing to customize. So I know that the new truck will be able to haul the new trailer. .

Keep in mind that your upper weights mentioned you will definitely need to be in the 3500 category, and likely a diesel. Perhaps even a dually... You will need to verify the towing limits as I do not recall off hand.
