GMC released its first official images of the 2017 Canyon Denali today. Most of GMC Canyon Denali changes for 17 are very subtle. Can you spot any?

I see it still has halogen projectors out front and halogen tails...so much for being a "Denali"...Doesn't even have a cool LCD/LED cluster like its big brother...

Denali is washed up compared to what it used to be but man the sales numbers are quite good on them...

Wonder if this rumour has any substance

http://autoindustrynewsletter.blogspot.se/2016/08/gms-tonawanda-awaits-news-affecting-its.html

"Roll back the clock to 2007 when GM made that famous announcement datelined TONAWANDA, NY. It stated: General Motors Corp. will introduce a new, state-of-the-art 4.5-litre V-8 Duramax turbo-diesel that improves engine fuel efficiency by 25 per cent, reduces CO2 emissions by 13 per cent and cuts particulates and NOx emissions by at least 90 per cent for North American light duty trucks and the HUMMER H2 built after 2009.

GM went on to say: “The premium V-8 diesel is expected to deliver class-leading torque, power and refinement while maintaining a significant fuel efficiency advantage over comparable-output gasoline engines.
“The new dual-overhead cam, four-valve V-8 diesel engine will fit within the same space of a small-block V-8 gasoline engine. This compact size is made possible by using integral cylinder head exhaust manifolds, integral cam cover intake manifolds and a narrow block."
Is it still alive?

First thing i noticed myself, for me anything today still equipped with halogen lighting is off the list of possible purchases! Learned that lesson with this 2014 truck which has horrible lighting performance.

Should be standard on every single model regardless of options that GM makes today.

It's not that halogens are bad per say...its more like a bad design (form over function aka projector vs. reflector) with halogen lighting. GMT-800 had some of if not the best reflector halogen lighting on the market.

However...after the GMC K2 fiasco, I'm surprised they haven't put more HID and LED lighting in their cars/trucks yet.

That's the problem, they like the updated look of projector housings but then choose to save money using lower end halogen lighting in them.

After the full size debacle it is really unacceptable that they went back to halogens and if i was in the market, yup without question this cost cut would make me skip right over the entire line all together regardless of anything else!

They will be priced higher then a full size truck

not all that shameful. the new canyon tows the same as a 1996 vortec half ton xcab...

and weighs within 300 pounds of its older big brother.

only smaller...

I would love one, whatever the trim.

I shouldn't say that.. gotta have some extras.

Very nice, beautiful truck! With an expensive price to come. I agree with everyone about the lights. What else have they cut cost on that is not so obvious? Plus they are all built on an asembly line so... The big companies are all about saving a few pennies (key switch example). That never seems to show in the MSRP.

On another note I am so glad they are using metalica paints now. That orange peel drives me crazy in older vehicles.
