Who's getting their sleds ready for winter?

Recommended Posts

For some reason in the past week or so I've started thinking about snowmobiling already. Maybe it's because it's significantly cooler suddenly in the past week? Maybe it's because I've heard reports from the Farmers Almanac and the Weather gurus that we're supposed to have more snow and cold than usual this year.

Either way I think I'll be pulling my sled out to do some prep work on it to get it in tune for the new season!

Who else is with me? Or am I just crazy and out in left field? lol

It's finally getting to be a comfortable temperature around these parts to do work like that. Looks like you have a good amount of work ahead of you.. been there more than once for sure.

My sled (16 MXZx 1200) is just about ready to go. I did the oil & filter change along with the chaincase before putting her away for the summer. Also greased, washed, and waxed her. I always buy a cover for my sleds, keeps them cleaner. A week ago I put on the E-compact bag from Sled Solutions on it. I hate the looks of the Doo picnic baskets. I still have a few more things like adjusting the suspension and checking everything else. In the mean time, we're waiting for my son's sled to come in.

What sled did your son get?

XRS Gade Silver/Orange. He was really looking at the 850's but with the track options along with the shock pkg's. He decided along with some help from me to get the XRS.. This is his first brand new sled. I didn't want him to spend more time working on a sled than riding. Nothing against the 850's, but you know how first year models go. Not only that he got a killer deal on it as he ordered it on the first day of sno check. He got like 2k off it.

The dealer we use has it so that the first 20 people that snocheck gets free delivery and setup, the next 20 get freight and setup for $200 and after that its $400, He was the first person to order this year. Last year I was the 18th.

Haven't worked on the sleds yet, but have been thinking about it before the weather turns to cold to work in the garage without some heat.

I searched for a new set of skis the past couple days! Keep thinking about a wider set for my F8 EXT that is on the heavy side. Looking at the 8" Cat trail skis they had up until last year or maybe the year before. Will probably get a set for my wife's T570 also.

Looking very clean!

I saw a snowmobile ramp for my truck that looks pretty decent and I'm think of picking it up for those times when I only need to take one sled with me. It would be much easier than hauling out the trailer when it's really not needed.

Anybody else do this? I'm going to also have to probably put some plywood in the bed to protect it from the studs on the track.
