Looks like tons on topics on the 2500 and bad issues.

Recommended Posts

Looks like so many topics on the 2500 and issues with everything from noise to steering to paint and etc... Right when I've almost convinced myself on the 2016 with Duramax (pending a hunting land lease that will involve some tractor hauling ). Just kinda scary thinking about buying your dream truck for 60k and not being able to hold it on the road or in the shop for weeks.

You will mostly see the bad on the internet, I've got an 11 LML, and I've had some problems with it. Am I going to bash the truck, no not until it leaves me on the side of the road somewhere. At 110,000 miles and I will buy another one sooner or later, I tend to keep my trucks for a long while 8-10 years so we will see what happens but right now I'm going to keep this thing rolling and until I have some of the problems others talk about not going to worry about it!!! My truck is my DD, but I do move a lot with trailers about 40,000 of the total has been with some weight behind the truck some others tow 100% of the time and have a lot more miles on their trucks than I do mine. :jester:

Tons of issues? Not sure which website you are looking at. The HD's are very reliable. Drivetrain's are almost bulletproof. Sure anything produced by men can have issues but IMO these HD trucks are very reliable. Now look at the number of problems in the 1/2 ton section to see what a lot of problems look like.

I'm not being a smartass man but I'm talking about this website. You count on the first 3 pages of this section and see how may post are negative. Both of my friends that have them love them but there is a bunch of negativity in this section on them. It ranges from paint to steering issues With barely keeping in road to vibration and noises that dealers can't solve. It's the exact opposite of what I think of when I think of these trucks.

It's the internet... not many people get on to talk about how thrilled they are.

More times than not, people on the forums piss their pants over nothing. Mine had an oil leak at 1500 miles. No biggie, just a drop on the floor every time I parked.

Waited until I needed to take it for the first oil change, they found and repaired leaking transfer case seal. Done, problem solved, no more leak. That's what they make warranties for. But to some, that would've been enough to crap their pants on the forum, and trade it in on a Ford never to return to gm again.

Take the Internet with a grain of salt.

I for one didn't sign up here to post about things I love. Just to be able to get help with any info I may need or ways to solve problems. Considering how many trucks are on the road and how many people voice a problem here it is a small percentage I think.

With my 2014 half ton I was ready after 22 years of being a GM guy to go buy a dodge instead. But in talking to everyone I know they as well as Fords all seem to get issues. So to me, they are all garbage now compared to trucks that were built to last 15-20 years ago. Just depends what grill you prefer. Sad I know, but it is the way I see it anyway.

I love my truck!!! I loved my 2012 extended cab too, but needed the space with the kids and the extended cab doors were getting to be a pain in the butt. The only bad experience I've had with either truck to date, my 2012 fuel pump went out in the middle of BFE on a trip one night at 12,000 miles. Warranty covered it, but was kinda a pain with getting a rental car and driving back and forth to get my truck back. I'm a Chevy man still and that didn't deter me from buying a 2015 truck.

Are there issues? Well sure, every manufacturer has them.

Are there "tons" of issues? Nope. That is exaggerating.

If you feel there are tons, then perhaps the GM brand isn't for you. You need to be happy with what you get. Good luck.

I understand. Like I said before the 2 close friends of mine that have them absolutely love them. It just seemed like every other thread on here was something going wrong. When I think of the 2500 Chevy/gmc Duramax I think of quality and reliability. The threads just worried me.

GM sold 538,000 GM trucks from Jan 16 thru July 16 (HD vs LD ... breakdown not available ... that I could find)

The forums specialize in problems - for the most part

Do you think Ram or Ford has a better product ?

We Don't ...
