Visual Differences between 2016 Sierra Denali 2500 and 3500

Recommended Posts

This month, I bought a 2016 Sierra Denali 1-ton Duramax, I can't find any info in the forum on how to tell a 2500 from a 3500 Sierra Denali on the outside.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but both have door badges that are simply "Denali HD." I looked at the window sticker and confirmed mine is a 3500, and the door sticker's stats confirm that. Are there any visual differences that I'm missing?

Thanks.

Couple ways for 1 ton vs 3/4 ton Denali HD.

- If it is a DRW truck, its a 3500hd.

- If it is a gas truck with the 10.5" rear axle, its a 2500hd.

- If it is a gas truck with the 11.5" rear axle, its a 3500hd.

- Denali HD 3500 SRW will only be 18" wheels. 20" wheels are not available on 3500HD SRW trucks.

- If it is a 3500hd, there will be two big frame leaf stops on the frame. There will also be two additional leafs on top of the main leaf pack.

- On the inside...when scrolling through the DIC pages, if there is no TPMS information and no way to reset it, it is a 2500hd as they don't require TPMS by law.

I have seen SRW 1 tons before on all of the "Big 3". It's rare to see them, but you can get them in SRW.

Aware, was just noting that if it is a DRW truck, it is a 1 ton, as an obvious observation of a Denali HD being a 1 ton.

Isn't it the 3500 that has no TPMS?

(unless it is ordered with code C7A - 10000 lb GVWR)

Thanks for the summary.
