2014 Truck A/C

07Softail

Question

I have noticed on the Double Cab, Crew Cab and SUV's that it will take more Freon than the regular cab trucks. Does this mean that the compressor is larger? and could be used on the regular cab truck? I live in the Hot Nasty South and I want the Cab of my truck ICE COLD!!

Yeah, I suspect they use different sized evaporators - larger in the larger cab areas. Some SUVs have rear air, which will add an extra pound or so to the system.

New vehicles I'm seeing use next to nothing. My brother's '16 Ram uses that new 1234YF refrigerant, and the entire system is less than a pound if I remember right. No room for error there.
