I would like to know any significant MPG or Torque using PowerAid Thro

Recommended Posts

My friend ran one on his 1995 1500 with a 5.7 TBI. Some throttle response sure, but no real change in MPGs. Being an 88, I'd take you have the TH400/3L80 transmission as the 4L80 didn't show until 1991. An overdrive unit would benefit on the mileage side, especially if you have some tall gears like 3.73, 4.10 or 4.56. The TH400/3L80 units don't have an overdrive gear like the 4L80 benefits from.

Gear Vendors is one that comes to mind: https://www.gearvendors.com/hrgm3s.html

Pretty penny however...and I'm not sure if they work with 4x4 trucks. They might be a 2 wheel drive only type of option.

15HDriver, YOU ARE WRONG IN YOU AUTOMATIC STATEMENT.

Can't believe the crap people are throwing out on the forums. His statement is WRONG.

You have a 700r4 auto with OD, if it's a 3/4 or 1 tone truck..
No ifs, ands or buts to it. That was the ONLY factory auto transmission options.
th-350's ended around '83 or 84.. 4L60E didnt start till '93. NV4500 wasnt used untill early 90's
DOn't always believe what you read .... nothing like free simple advice.

way back when there was tall one barrels and short...otherwise, the same carb.

The tall is for big engines or weight of vehicle being heavy

the 5.7 is big.

I'd go with it just for temperature of fuel change. (stamina)

Thanks for the helpful suggestions GUYS.

Chris, can you enlighten me more about the under drive crankshaft pulley from summitt??? I believe this should turn the engine faster , Higher RPM but I don't see how that would help fuel mileage???????

Barry, Do you know of any proven testing.... I feel this thinking has been around a bit. In fact I recall back in the mid 80s I installed a similar riser under the single barrel carb with expensive platinium screen that was suppose to atomize the fuel better thereby increasing MPG. NO IMPROVEMENT but waste of time and money for me.

IF anyone else has any experience or suggestions chime in.
