Just got my All Terrain just over 2 weeks ago and love it so far. Quick question for anybody who might know, Per GM the package comes with the locking rear diff. Is anybody aware of the locking mechanism? Is it always going to be locked causing less than great turning, or is it in function with the tow package/hll decent, or?

It's an automatic locking one. When there is a certain speed difference between the two rear axle shafts, it has some centrifugal weights that lock the system together. Typically you can feel/hear it lock up when you have one tire starting to loose grip and it suddenly grabs.

Thanks Dan, makes alot more sense to me now. Found GM's sight showing its the G80 rear diff. This is my first Truck with this kind of rear diff, guess my ford friends dont have anything like this. Good to hear my truck can handle more.

The Ford's actually have a electronic one that you can engage manually. I don't know how it is on the current Gen trucks, but on the previous generation ones you'd pull the 4wd dial out to lock the rear. I liked the fact that the LCD screen in the gauge cluster would tell you when the rear was locked so there was no guessing.
