Question about 20" vs 22" wheels

Recommended Posts

I just ordered a 2017 Suburban LTZ from my dealer and stuck with the 20" wheels to keep the price close to $70k. I'm considering adding the 22" wheels but have heard that the ride isn't near as good with 22" wheels as it is with 20" wheels. Can anyone confirm or deny this "rumor" for me please? Any response would be greatly appreciated.

I had 20's on my 16' Sierra w/ Goodyears and it rode equally as bad as my Denali w/ 22's and Bridgestones. Both have hard tires and sidewalls. After much issues w/ bridgestones replaced w/ Michelin defenders on 22's. Totally new ride, and very comfortable. Tires are the important part of your concern. Michelin do have a softer sidewall which I just discovered towing recently. This is why they ride nicer. Repro 22" wheels online and michelins will be cheaper and ride nicer than the crap tires that will come on your truck and vibrate anyway! It's the tires not the rims. But the bigger the sidewall the more absorption of the road would be true but if you want 22's you can achieve a nice ride with quality tires. All things being equal same tire on 18", 20", and 22" the 18" would ride nicer. But I have found a very improved ride on a better quality tire, on 22's. The Goodyears and bridgestones were absolutely horrible. Good luck!
