Xenon Depot LEDs

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone

I saw that xenon Depot just came out with their new extreme led headlights and I was wondering if anyone has tried them? I'm thinking about getting them but I wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts.

Thanks

Mike

My thoughts exactly. I'm hesitant until I see some reviews. My main concern is if they fit behind the dust caps on my silverado 2500hd. If I don't see any reviews soon I might end up getting them and seeing if they fit.

I haven't been a fan of silver stars since one set I had went out after only about a month. I've had much better luck in the past with philips extreme vision bulbs. Also thinking about the philips crystal vision ultras just to get a whiter looking light. Not entirely sure what to do yet. I know just swapping the halogen bulbs would be easier but I wouldn't really get an improvement in the amount of light.

I just got mine today and installed them first without the canbus since most people didn't need them, worked fine with the truck off but flickered and shut off when I started it. I have a 2014 SLT. I had to tear it all back a part and put the canbus in. Worked fine after that but not super impressed with the high beams, doesn't seem any brighter than the horrible stock halogens. Low beams with the matching fogs look pretty good and color matches well. I was able to fit all of it behind the dust cover but wonder how hot the heat sync material and LED driver module are supposed to get? After about an hour or driving they were quite hot to the touch but not quite to the point of burning me, hopefully this is normal and they will be fine and not fry themselves.

I'd be concerned about the heat of the driver and heat sink material but if they work well I think they have a gasket that allows the driver/canbus to be mounted outside the dust cap and reseal it. That's always an option to minimize the heat I think.

I ended up moving the driver/canbus outside the dust cap just to be on the safe side and sealed it with the included gasket, I've had no issues with them.

I got the lights today and was able to install them in about 30 minutes. They are amazing. Nice crisp white color. Plenty of light. The cutoff is still nice and sharp with the stock projectors but it seems like a lower cutoff than the standard halogen bulbs.

Passenger side is philips crystal vision ultra. Driver side is led.

Both led headlights installed with stock fogs for comparison.

Cutoff about about 25-30 feet.
