I never said a 30-30 was the answer to the OP, just that it was the most popular around here followed by the 308...if you READ my previous post, you will see I recommended the 308 for their purpose.

If I were you owning both the .270 and 6.5 creedmoor I would say they are about even to me. .270 is perfect for 100 yard shots all day long. But if you want to stretch your legs and reach out accurately past 400 yards or so I would go with the 6.5 creedmoor.

Here is mine.

After looking at a few more models I'm back on the fence about which one. I am now considering a Remington 700, still in .308.

Got one...love it

I bought my original 700 ADL around '97 and from what I've heard, the new Remingtons are not very good. At least not as good as the older ones.

Says who? It's the shooter not the rifle.

Remington 700 SPS Tactial: 20" barrel, heavier than Ruger and stock also feels more solid

What I shoot. Stock sucks so went Magpul Hunter w/Leupold MK4. Tackdriver

Thoughts on either of those rifles and would you choose one over the other? The SPS tactical is obviously more than the other two but is there another rifle in .308 that you would recommend in the $700 or less price range?

It's a tool. You get what you pay for. Sakos are nice as well.

7.62/308 is cheap and readily available in many bullet wieghts. As long as it stays in the NATO inventory it will be around forever.

Get your chick a Ruger 10/22. More fun and cheap. Plus no earpro
