Question

Alright so I bought my 07 Sierra a few months back and didn't have any problems out of it for awhile. Then I started to get a "check right rear tire pressure" message every time I start the truck along with the TPMS light illuminated. All tires are fine however. Took it to a tire shop here and he tested all my sensors and said they're all fine. Told me to leave battery unhooked for awhile and try to reset the system that way. Didn't work for me. Occasionally I'll start the truck and the light and message won't come up initially, but with a little driving, sure enough it pops up again. Doesn't hurt the driving of the truck or anything, it's just more annoying than anything at this point. Anyone have this problem/know any solutions to it? Thanks

if those are the original batteries in the TPMS sensors in the rims then they are for sure going bad after 8-9 years. I always thought that the batteries were replaced when they did the TMPS rebuild thingie at the tire store but they are not. It's not part of the process.

Yep - was just going to say the same thing as Colossus.

I didn't think the batteries were replaceable - figured they made them as throwaway units, like so many parts are today.

My new scan tool (Autel Maxisys MS906TS) shows battery life in each sensor when it's scanned. It also shows temperature, which surprised me. If those sensors are temperature-capable, then why didn't GM put that parameter in the DIC? Would've been a great feature to have, especially when towing something heavy.

It was my understanding that they were made as throw away units as well and the batteries aren't replaceable. Maybe my tire shop guy was just wrong in telling me all the sensors were fine but he ran a scan tool over all of them and said they were okay. Just getting annoying and want to get it figured out lol
