Best exhaust system 2016 Silverado 1500

Recommended Posts

So I just purchased a 2016 Silverado 1500 LTZ and wanted to inquire about some upgrades starting with a killer exhaust system. Just wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations on what they prefer or what would be best system or just muffler to add on to the truck. I'm looking for an agressive but not over the top model that will catch peoples attention but not get me pulled over and piss off the neighbors. Thanks in advance.

Personally, I added the GM Borla dual out the rear exhaust and the GM cold air intake.

Not too loud, but sounds very aggressive when you get on it.

Edit: I watched TONS of youtube videos of Borlas on the new Silverados before I pulled the trigger. I will say, though, that it's definitely louder/more aggressive sounding in person than it is on the videos, though I suppose the air intake could be adding a bit of sound as well?

I purchased the Borla ATAK dual tip, rear exhaust. Cost $1,000, but it is a GM approved part. The ATAK is the louder more aggressive of the Borla systems. This is the way to go for an exhaust system. I have the K&N Air Intake installed as well, 5.3L V8, nice growl to it right around 2500-3000RPM. Not obnoxious at all. I love it.

I spent 2 months debating the exact same thing....finally just broke down and spent the $$ for the Corsa sport catback and love it....very aggressive and turns heads, but as long as you don't stomp on it, won't anger your neighbors. IMHO Corsa and Borla are the best hands down. Remember you get what you pay for. I almost convinced myself to get a Gibson, but read too many bad reviews being cheap. The more expensive ones are T-304 stainless so they'll last a long time and the Corsa came with really nice band clamps and took me and a friend less than an hour to install (using a lift to get stocker out in 1 piece).

I tried a Magnaflow 14" then removed the factory resonator by the rear wheel. It had a nice mellow tone but was way too quiet for my tastes. I ended up with the Gibson metal mulisha cat back and absolutely love it. It's really loud but that's what I wanted. Sounds mean.

Just wanted to say sorry in advance, I didn't mean to dis people who chose Gibson in any way....I SERIOUSLY considered the metal mulisha because it was one of the best sounding I heard! I just had Corsa on an LT1 Camaro and I loved it so having already had experience with it was a no brainier. I do agree though, anything I've heard of magnaflow sounded too quiet in my opinion.

I have the Borla dual rear outlet exhaust that can be ordered from GM. (I think this is the Borla "Touring" exhaust system.) I really like it. It's got a nice rumble at idle and a deep "big block" roar when I hit the gas. There is no drone when on the highway. The pipes and muffler appear to be very well made. I highly recommend it.
