Hello everyone, new 2016 canyon slt 4x4 v6. Here's a little recent past history. Aug 30, bought 16 silverado z71, returned to dealer 8 days later due to vibration issues. Test drove 2 colorados (1 diesel,1 v6) both had a little over 500miles on them. Both had vibration around 40mph and more noticeable at around 80mph. I then went to a gmc dealer. I was under the impression that the gmc was a "better built" truck. I guess I should have thought that through a little better. Anyway, I test drove the truck I now own for almost 100 miles. BTW, the truck had just been pulled off the transport, had 4 miles on it and plastic covering the interior. The truck drove fine with no vibrations so I bought it. At around 700 miles I've noticed the truck just isnt very smooth and i can feel every little pebble on the road. I also started noticing some shaking periodically around 80mph. Took the sls Mgr on a ride with me and of course it barely shook at all. He said he would document it for me but that he couldn't really do anything at this point. He said that these trucks are very stiff and that it felt pretty normal to him. Couldnt argue much at the time because it really didnt drive that bad while he was in there. Maybe I'm just jaded now, idk. Just wondering if anyone has swapped shocks, tires, wheels or anything to improve the ride quality of theses trucks. Thanks in advance for any info.

The stiff ride is the price paid for bigger payload ratings and stable towing performance. Older trucks might have gotten away with a smooth ride for its claimed payload, but those numbers were often inflated. Your new Canyon has towing and payload capabilities that are closer to a half-ton made 15 years ago.

I would recommend putting a sanddbag or two in the back of the truck a couple hundred lbs will make all the difference in the ride. Bilstein shocks are highly recommended upgrades on here.
