Trouble with Lane Keeping Warning system / Parking Assist - please ADV

Recommended Posts

Hello Y'all -

Friday night, I took delivery of another "suburban" been driving them for 20+ years. Anyway, the new one is a 2016 AWD Denali XL, and I am having a couple issues. The most frustrating one is that the "Safety Seat" alert function doesn't work in either vibrate or chime mode 99% of the time. I have used it on a 2015 Cadillac and remember it being pretty sensitive. However on the new Denali, I can't get it to consistently trigger even when I am trying to. The automatic "steering" and the adaptive cruise control work VERY WELL. However, it seems like the alert system should be chiming or vibrating my seat any time that it is applying the brakes or correcting my steering - it is not.

Also, the parking alert is essentially non-functional. I can pull close enough to my garage or another vehicle that I have to fold in my mirrors before it alerts. Most of the time it just doesn't alert.

I have read the manual and have the settings correct in the VEHICLE section of the touch screen options. I also have the buttons correctly selected on the dash.

Have many of you experienced similar issues?

Do your SEAT / CHIME alerts trigger each time that the vehicle makes a correction?

Thanks

Randy

thanks - is this a "known issue" for lots of folks?

Known issue for some of what you describe, but not necessarily for a lot of folks. With these common day software driven vehicles, occasionally these trucks roll off the line without all of the updates and dealers usually do them when you take the truck in for routine service.

GMC dealer driving to deliver a loaner to me tomorrow, while they take this one back for service. Meanwhile, I stopped by a Chevy store and test drove a LTZ Suburban. Its sensors were more responsive than my Denali, but still nothing like the 2015 Escalade ESV I had for a while. Is there some sensitivity setting the dealer can tweak?

Hello Randy,

I’m sorry to hear of this seat/chime and parking alert concern. This is far from what we like to hear from our customers and we sincerely apologize for the experience you've had thus far, especially so early into your ownership. Our team would like the opportunity to research this situation further by private message. Please be sure to include your VIN, mileage, contact information, and the name of your servicing dealership in the message to better assist you.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,
