I got hit yesterday

Recommended Posts

Well guys I was parked outside my friends house yesterday and my truck got hit. The lady had a medical emergency and blacked out. I took it to my body shop today and they said $10000-15000 in repairs. Have to wait to see what the insurance adjuster says though. The last picture is her car.

I'd say they're well built still. She hit my parked truck at about 50 mph and pushed it about 15 feet forward. Considering that the damage could've been a whole lot worse I think

We had a guy at work get rear ended and the damage didn't look too bad. But because the box hit the cab, they wrote the truck off. It was only a year old and I was surprised.

That's what I'm worried about since the box hit the cab. All the body lines look good still but I need to wait for the adjustor. I'm gonna fight for everything I can with the insurance company

Finally met with the adjustor from the lady's company. Cut me a check for the estimate but the body said there's more damage than what she wrote for. The body shop said they'll file a supplemental report for the rest. The rental is a Jeep Grand Cherokee which is pretty nice

Did you have any frame damage? Did you file for a diminished value claim? Very similar happened to me a month ago and still waiting on my truck back. Mine was $7800 last I heard with one bedside replaced. I am having a hell of a time fighting with Progressive. Took 3 supplements before they okay'd the bed side. I feel with frame damage now potentially on the vin history (still clean title) that it is worth less than it was prior to the accident. Mind you this was 6 days after I purchased the truck, used 2015 with 44k miles.

My body shop put it on their frame jig and determined no frame damage. Trailer hitch took it pretty hard and was replaced. Other than that it was all cosmetic. I thought about filing a claim for that but I figured it's not worth it since I plan on keeping this truck for a long time. My total was around $10000. When the adjustor from State Farm say my bedside she didn't even offer to repair it. She immediately said it was going to be replaced.

Thats good, as bed sides are so easy to replace there is no reason to really attempt "fix" it especially since the back side is visible. I had to fight to get mine replaced, the shop had to submit 3 supplements along with 2 body pulls on it before they approved the bedside.
