So, I'm in the market for a long range optic for my cz 750 .308. I will be mostly target shooting, and making my 1st attempt at "gong" shots to 1000 for now. Maybe more as the local range here is going out to a mile. For now I'm starting with .308, will likely be going up to .338 lapua. Furthest I've gone in past is 300 with my .270 I hunt with, I did win $50 off my brother by putting one down the neck of a beer bottle at 300. My father retired as a weapons instructor for law enforcement, and taught me some tricks.

Thank you for your response.

BTW, I'm leaning towards 1st focal, and moa as I'm an "old school" yards and inches guy

If you are set between leupold and nightforce, I would get nightforce. More rugged in my opinion and they also seem to have more internal adjustments than other brands. However, if you are interested in other quality brands that will suit your needs look at vortex and sightron. The glass quality in these scopes are exceptional for the price. Vortex also has a no "B.S." warranty. Check out the torture test for the vortex scopes on youtube.

I just ordered a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP for my AR-10. Sadly they are back ordered in that particular model so it will be 2-3 months before it ships.

I would definitely recommend to spend the extra money on the First Focal Plane if your desire is to shoot long range.

Yea I decided to wait for the vortex due to a very hefty first responder discount that I cannot get on leupold, night force, or sightron.

What kind of shooting are you going to be doing with that CZ 750? Just long range target shooting or maybe some tactical shooting or hunting? That's how I would base my decision on the what scope to go with. If all you're going to do is long range target shooting from a bench or prone then I probably wouldn't spend the extra money on the night force and I would get a nice leupold. If you plan to do anything at all rugged I would go with night force due to it's ruggedness and ability to take a beating or the vortex due to the no "B.S." warranty. You probably know this already but I'll say it anyway: Don't settle for anything other than what you want, you'll regret it later, I know I have multiple times haha.

right on, thank you.. friend of mine is going to lend me his acog, we're going to the range this weekend to see what ammo works best, and ill likely order a leupold custom to match the ammo. Mostly target shooting, looking to max out the 308 past a grand

That's a real challenge to shoot accurately at 1k yds. Should be fun. I'm itching to see exactly how well this Christensen CA-10 DMR does out in the 200-500 yd range. If it truly holds under 1 MOA consistently, I'll be very pleased.

This would be my vote, if money is no issue: http://www.huskemawoptics.com/bd-5-20

If it was me, I'd work out to that 1000 slowly, that's a heck of a shot. Will probably take hand loads to hit consistently at that range. It'll all be worth it when you make the plate wiggle.

Wound up getting a vortex ffp 6-24x50. Installed it, zeroed it sub moa at 100. Went to 200, then 300. Walked my splashes up to 1000 and ran out of moa adjustment. Took a couple Kentucky style, didn't see a splash, but couldn't confirm a hit.

Remounted with a 20moa rail under it, just re zeroed today.

I just got my vortex 6-24x50 ffp installed yesterday. Can't wait to shoot it. It'll be a while before I can get out to 1000 yards with it but let us know how it works out on the 20 MOA base. That's what I mounted mine on.

Hornaday match, amax 168 gr.

Went from 2-3-4 today. Big crosswind. Was holding 2 moa at 4 with the 168's. Then was hitting steel at 600 with 178's still holding 2. Lots of fun. Three 50's going off, someone took out the plate at 1000 with a 50, so I didn't get the chance to hit it.

5 shot group at 100 after reinstalling the glass

Some nice shooting. What load?

I ended up ordering a Leupold Vx6 3-18x 50 30mm CDS with the TMOA reticle. I looked at all I could find. In the end I just wasn't finding exactly what I wanted. I wanted the low end of 3x and as much magnification as I could get for the top end. Lightweight was another thing I wanted. Well, you can't have everything. But the Leupold was about the lightest with all the other things I wanted. I would have preferred a Millirad reticle and adjustment and an illuminated reticle. But, I'll work with the MOA reticle and I would probably never use the illumination anyway.

For a mount, I researched the QD types and found Bobro Engineering had a reputation of repeating zero better than the others. I called them in Santa Barbara yesterday and they set me up.

I should see this stuff by Monday.

Man I wish I had seen the Bobro mount when doing my research. For some reason what I was typing into Google never returned anything about the Bobro scope mounts and I'm a little disappointed now because I wanted a quick detach mount but settled on another haha. I ended up with the Aadmount on my rifle for the simple fact that I never saw the Bobro mount and that the best return to zero I saw on the others was 1 MOA. Aadmount pretty much guarantees a return to zero of 1/2 MOA or they'll replace it but ti attaches to the rail with 4 torx head bolts instead of throw levers.

I didn't see anywhere on Bobro's site where they guarantee a return to zero. In your research did you run across anyone that had issues with a return to zero that the company stood behind their product and fixed the issue?
