Hey guys, I bought my first square body from a farmer who used to to haul manure. This truck is in pretty rough shape but mechanically sound. It has the 6.2 diesel and TH-400 transmission. 8600lb GCVW Short cab with a long bed. Fairly base with a few selected options. Any tips or tricks that are good to know for this year and engine?

From experience, with farm trucks always change out all the fluids. If it was ever driven through water (which is a definite) the fluid in the front and rear diffs might have water in it. Check seals and test your coolant and inspect u joints. Also definitely change your tranny fluid, or at least pull the stick and make sure it's red. I would baby the trans because it is guaranteed to have had a hard life. I know the 6.2 is kinda short on power but I had a buddy with a 6.2 suburban, he sold it to somebody when it had 425k on it and it's still going strong. I think Banks makes a turbo kit for them too.
