Chevrolet's new Silverado HD concept ties its working roots to the Carhartt brand of work clothes. We'll set aside the quotes that Chevy created to tie in the two brands, but we will let you in on what the concept adds for equipment. Here's the list of modifications and additions:

-Trailering mirrors with camera system
-Black bowtie emblems
-All-weather floor liners
-Assist steps
-Perimeter bed lighting
-Bed-mounted toolbox and swing-out tool chest (associated accessories)

-20-inch LED light bar
-Electrical outlets in the bed
-Antique nickel accents on the grille, mirror caps, tow rings and 20-inch aluminum wheels
-Carhartt gold pinstripe graphics

So what say you GM-trucks.com faithful? Is this a great marketing idea and a truck you'd drive or a weird tie-in between a clothing brand and a work truck?

Looks nice but too small, I want an 8ft bed dually, maybe they'll offer the package in that configuration I don't know. Sadly black for me is a no go in Florida as well. I like a few of the other options too, 120v plugs and lighting sound nice.

It's only a concept for SEMA. They probably won't offer any package like this for sale.

Meh.

Looks pretty, but "chrome don't get ya home", as they say.

How about a REAL special edition truck: one that DOESN'T rust .... and doesn't shut down without warning on the highway?

How about one that you can replace a FPCM in without needing a J2534 reflash? How about one WITHOUT a FPCM??

That would truly qualify for the Special Edition moniker.

I like the outlets in the bed, the tow hooks, and the LED in the front bumper...maybe these will someday be available from the parts dept? But, I agree...probably a one-off for SEMA. How is the front bumper LED not impedding air flow to the tranny cooler? I have read on this forum and other forums that blocking this hole can increase tranny temps while towing heavy loads and some customers were told to remove LEDs in this location as it could possibly deny tranny warranty claims if the issue is heat related. I've wanted to install an LED in this hole to "protect" the very vunerable tranny cooler...

Wierd... who wants Carhartt all over their truck without a marketing deal from them, and with slightly useful add ons for a price only 10x what it costs to add yourself!!?

I'm a diehard Chevy truck man, been that way as long as I have a memory- but seriously, what gives? GM under the restructure has failed Chevy in brand recognition, and value. Using other product brands to "brand" a vehicle is honestly worthless- I wouldn't pay a nickel more for any of this.

With that said, my 2008 Silverado crew cab, 5.3L LT suits me perfectly, and it wasn't over $25,000 new! Like a rock!
