Exaust Question K1500 5.7L

Recommended Posts

So the truck factory on the 5.7 l comes with dual pipes to a single muffler with single out.

I'm going with a dual in/out magna flow; question is the balance is done in the muffler with their factory design? Do i need a H pipe/X pipe setup or would the packing serve as balancing with in the magna flow?

This is the muffler I'm getting, this might be newbie question just not used to dual pipes always had singles just want to make sure that the engine is protected.

you shouldn't need anything else.

I'd dish out a little more for the real baffles of a flowmaster suv50 or even bigger.

real baffles.

the cold starts are robust, very good. No noise troubles on the bigger ones.

the perforations are terrible by factory... I wouldn't put one of those back in.

..and go with welding.

You'll be fine without it. If you have extra money to spend and it makes you feel better then put an x-pipe in the system but if you only knew how many straight pipe trucks are running around my area with nothing but pipe after the cats (if they even have cats) and they are doing just fine.

So basically it's like the Magna Pak but has 2 in/2 out and the tube is slightly curve a little with some dentions i guess to help muffle the sound.

I had magnapaks on my previous Dodge which I did love; so I think these will be nice. Each side is a strait through, only thing between them are the packing packing material. So I'm going to just go with it as is..

For now I'm going to do dumps until i get extra cash to get some added pipe in place. I'll be welding it for sure as its 2" pipe and the magnaflow is 2-1/4"

I just bought about 1K worth of parts for this truck, mainly front end suspension items; blower motor for inside; complete belt drive system; tune up parts and other things.

They did not take care of this truck at all!!!

So I'm glad to give it the TLC it deserves.
