The theme at this year's Chevrolet SEMA Show Booth has been all about showing off concepts that incorporate parts you can buy from your local Chevy dealer. The Silverado High Desert Concept is no exception.

Built off a High Country trim Silverado, the High Desert Concept will go into production as the "High Desert Special Edition" in the near future. Details about the production version are slim but the concept points to a pickup that takes storage and bed utility seriously.

Most noticeable on the High Desert concept is the Avalanche style hard bed cover with flip open storage containers and flying wings near the cab. The cover not only looks badass but provides functionality that is guaranteed to satisfy any outdoors-man who needs organized storage for their fun weekend getaways.

While Chevy isn't talking about when the hard bed cover will go into production, most of the other accessories on the High Desert Concept already have part numbers.

I'd like to know if the bed insert will be available for the Standard Bed. So far all concepts have shown it in a Short Bed truck. I'll bet GM will only have it for that bed length since tooling would be expensive to make it for all the different bed sizes.

The Illuminated bowtie is already listed in the 2016 accessories as p/n 84129741. I'm not sure what the difference is between that one and the new part number ...

Is the current number for the gold? I know when I ordered my Camaro that they had two separate options for the illuminated bow tie, gold and black.

I have sort of a tire fetish, and I have never seen off-road tires like that before. They have the tread, but are low profile and have the extended rim-protection rubber to avoid curbing the rims when parking. Interesting....

I believe they come on all Sierra and Silverado trucks with 22" wheels now. I have them on my 16 Silverado. They are Bridgestone Dueler A/T's. I love them and they're almost silent in the highway. They also provide great traction. You can hear them grip some surfaces when your window is down and driving slowly, such as backing out of a drive way.

How about cease production of trucks and stop selling defective vibrator trucks to consumers until you find a solution?

Agreed.

My costumed ordered SEO Green 4X4 truck with decal delete - had a vibration problem that could not be fixed.

New tires, rims, new axle, and on and on.

Still vibrated and I didn't want to fight the lemon law arbitration system set up by the dealers in my state.

Traded it in.

No the current one is black too. Chevy doesn't sell an illuminated gold one (trust me, I have been looking!)

Love the truck ... except for that Avalanche-style cab/bed doodad back there. Looks TERRIBLE on this, and the Avalanche, IMO.

I could definitely use all that storage - great concept.

My '07 never had a vibration problem, but, the brakes pulsated like a 10 year old truck right off the lot, with just 47 miles on the clock.

That should've been my warning. I didn't heed it ... :nonod:

There's one number for 1500's, and one number for 2500/3500 HD's (the rear is the same, but the front one is different)

84129741 is for 2016-'17 1500's

23385942 is for 2014-up 2500/3500's and 2014-'15 1500's

Yes, for the Camaro they offer both Black or Gold, but for the trucks only Black is available, they also include a new rear bowtie in Black as well to replace the Gold one, although it is non-illuminated.

That gold one only fits the Camaro. The Silverado ones are only available in black.

That makes sense. At least I know I can get one for my 2015 1500!
