Best place for answers is: Blazerforum.com since the Jimmys & Blazers match up.

That being said.... Check your starter to battery wire. Make sure it doesn't have breaks anywhere. Make sure all wires at the starter & the battery are tightened down completely.

Get your battery tested.... If its voltage is sitting too low it can kill your starter!!

If you have an Autozone, Advance, etc..... get them to test your charging system (free) .... it will test your battery, starter & alternator. It's a simple test & pretty quick.

Beyond fixing your starter issue, go on EBay & order the manifold gasket kit (much cheaper to buy it there). If you're handy enough fixing things & following video directions, check out YouTube. There are plenty of excellent diagnostic & repair videos on the Jimmys & Blazers.

The 4.3 L Vortec engine was used in plenty of other GM & Chevy vehicles along with a long production period. I watch several different videos to pick out the easiest to follow. If you have a tablet that's very helpful. Makes it nice when you can pause, work & watch to get the job done. Of course, if you have a garage at your house & can set up a decent sized tv..... all the better!

If I covered anything you already know then just consider it a friendly reminder.
