Carpet installation.

Recommended Posts

I got a great deal on a former UHaul long bed Sierra with the most basic trim package. The floor is black vinyl and I want to add a carpet kit.

Questions are:

How do you remove the door sills and kick panels without ruining them? I don't see any screws.

Are there any procedures to follow for removing the seats? They have airbags in them.

Should I remove the existing vinyl floor or put the new carpet right over it?

Any advise or tips will be appreciated

They just pop off. Pick up trim removal tool at any autoparts store and take your time, they'll pop right off. Depending on how much you need to move the b-pillar trim, you may have to remove the top seat belt bolt.

I am looking to do the same thing on my 2500HD 2016. Bought a base with extras, but no fancy upgrades. Carpets cheap. So far from what I have read on blogs, it is pretty straight forward by unbolting seats and door sills. Disconnect the battery and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes and you should be fine with the airbags in the seats. Once I get mine done I will post some pics and how to do. If you tackle yours sooner, please do the same.
