Hi.
New member from Norway here.
Finally back to a Pickup truck again, have had some pickups before and I am now the owner of a 2008 Silverado 1500 ,4x4.

Getting a bit scared reading all the post on AFM problems, but hopefully I think that there are a lot of them out there without problems as well...
Looking forward to be an active member on this forum.

Welcome Ove. The AFM issues and oil burning are hit-or-miss. I had an '08 with about 98,000 miles that didn't burn a drop of oil. It did have an occasional lifter tick that would go away after a few minutes. It did that for about 4-5 years but the lifters never failed. You could always have the AFM tuned out so that it never kicks in.

Nice to know, I'll keep an eye on the oil consumption, and so far no lifter ticking. It has 62,000 miles on it now.
