GREAT NEWS!!! I figured it out

Recommended Posts

Well at least for me... it bothered me badly since the arrival and purchase of my 2015 silverado 6.2 that I was only able to do a 2 second burnout.... now for those that don't know.. yes in the past I turned off traction control and also stability track... also let me note that I do not have a tune nor did I unplug the wheel sensor.. this morning and idea crossed my mind... so turned off traction control, stability track and also turned off grade braking.... and guess what.... the tires kept spinning... so I ended trying it 2 more times today when I got off work... and yes sir it works... just thought I would pass on what I've discovered.... with all that to the side.. please if you do try this do it at your own risk! And be safe...

Thankfully I got all of that out of my system by the time I got the '14 since I want to actually take care of this one and not do stuff like that. I learned my lesson with the previous truck ('98 Silverado). God help me though if I ever get a Camaro since it will be a V8 and manual if I get one. Not long after getting the '98 I started to work at the local Harley-Davidson dealer (people just say Harley shop lol) and at least half the times I would do a burnout when leaving. It was on a major highway too so I'm surprised I never had anyone call in on me or catch me.

Its not that I want to do this day in and day out.. it just bothered me badly that having something like I do and I can't do a burnout..

I remember first getting it I just started to power brake it. Wasn't going to let it spin, just wanted to see. The rear didn't even raise up and that did get on my nerves, then it hit me and I tried it later with TC off and it raise. I was happy after that. I wasn't saying you'd do it all the time, was just saying my POV I guess. What made me learn my lesson with the '98 was wasting tires so quick and having major stuff break because of how hard I treated it. And I mean I had 2 engines go (2nd was when I let it go so whoever has it, is on it's 3rd engine), the trans went and the rear axle broke twice so when I got rid of it, it was on it's 3rd axle. I believe the spider gears are what basically blew up in pieces. Most of that was within the first 4-5 years of owning it and I got it used in '04. The trans and the last motor blow was within the last month or 2 of owning it so I got tired of fixing my mistakes.

Might be a good idea to check that you don't have a G80 Eaton locker before trying a burnout or there's a good chance you'll be replacing more than tires/bodywork. Videos on Youtube of blowing the locker doing burnouts.

FYI, turning off the stabitrak by holding it for 10 seconds will disable everything for burnouts. Once you get to 30 mph, it all kicks back on though.

that's the beauty of what I experienced.... it kept going after 30

Are you saying that TC, ST and GB off equals no automatic return of ST above 30 mph?

Yes!!!! Now I'm not saying this will work for everyone truck.. so I'm hoping someone else tries it.. but for me this worked for me
