2014 Silverado 1500 Z71 complete fluid info

Matt Wurth

Question

I'm having a hard time finding all the right answers. I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 Z71 with 58,000 miles, having done quite a bit of boat towing. I'm going to be doing a front to back fluid change. Oil, trans, diff, transfer case, radiator etc. Im not sure what transfer case fluid to use. Is it just the Dexron IV or something special? I was told that a special additive needed to be added to either the transfer case or the front and rear differential. So all help would be appreciated. Below is what I know. If I'm missing something let me know.

Oil 8.5qts 0W20

Trans about 8qts needed of Dex IV for filter change

Coolant DexCool

Transfer case, unknown fluid type or capacity

Differentials, unknown fluid type or capacity

Engine oil is 8 quarts.

Transfer case is Dexron VI 2 quarts.

Front diff is 75w90 you will need two quarts. Rear is 75w85 2.59 quarts.

Pan Removal and Filter Replacement – Approximate Capacity 6L80/6L90 - 6 quarts

Add no additives to the transfer case or the differentials. No need.

Probably not Dex IV (4), but Dex VI (6). 6 quarts initial fill for the 6L80.

TRANS: I'd run this: http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/transmission-fluid/automatic/signature-series-fuel-efficient-synthetic-automatic-transmission-fluid/?code=atlqt-ea

^^^ Run same in transfer case, 3.2 pints.

FRONT & REAR DIFFERENTIALS: http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/gear-lube/severe-gear-75w-90/?code=svgqt-ea

3 pints front, rear is either 4.2 for 8.25" ring gear or 5.5 pints for 8.6" ring gear, depending on which rear you have.

COOLANT (16.6 qts.): http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/other-products/antifreeze/passenger-car-and-light-truck-antifreeze-and-coolant/?code=antpc1g-ea

I've run Amsoil front to back in mine almost since day one. I've overloaded the thing several times going 75% over my towing capacity, and nothing has broken yet, amazingly. That's a testament to the oil, right there.

Engine shows 8 qts, but wouldn't hurt to grab an extra. http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/motor-oil/gasoline/sae-0w-20-signature-series-100-percent-synthetic-motor-oil/?code=asmqt-ea
