Any old Suburban owners, past or present?

How many of ya'll remember the 71-early 91s Burbs? I sure do. They were roomy, and they were tanks. I still see a good number of em on the roads today.

The ones I drove, along with the K5 Blazers never left me stranded.

Had a 77 2wd burb and a loaded up 85 4wd burb with the 2 tone blue paint, buckets and console

Had a 98 two door Tahoe 4x4. Like many of my past rides regretted selling after the fact.

I had several of the Suburbans, a 1989, a 1991, a 1993, a 1994 and a 1997, if I remember correctly. The ex-wife liked them and they were usable for my work, although we normally used trucks. They were pretty good vehicles overall. One of them had the drop down tailgate, the others had the barn doors. I preferred the drop down version, she liked the barn doors. All of them were 2wd with bucket seats with a console, and had the 3rd row seating that got pulled out and put in storage until time to sell them.

 

The thing I remember the most about them was if the cigarette lighter fuse blew and you mashed the lighter in, the damn interior lights would come on. Love to know how that electrical feedback worked.....

My uncle had a bunch of them in the 70's-90's when he passed away. Took a fishing trip to lake erie in the late 80's in one. Awesome SUV, had a ton of room.

LED fixes all of it...and concentric wheel spacers. mix and match for a good looking rig.

I took in a 96 pickup.

 

55w high beam is the last two bulb staying as "tig welders".

 

my sister liked the burbans. We had it packed for a funeral going through boston.

extended. big vehicle.

 

I avoid them for severe winters. Atmosphere is just too big to be in control right away.

Dad had a 97 LS in Summit white with the gray cloth interior...Thing was a beast, and became part of the family Miss that ol' tank.

My current Sub, '99 3/4 ton with the Vortec 454 with tan leather. I've owned four, and would pick this one over any of them. Just wish this one had the A/C like my 2005 Sub. You could hang beef in the summer in the back of that one, and black too.

It has A/C, just doesn't blow ANYWHERE near what my 2005 did!

Interesting. I wonder why? I thought the 90s burbs had good A/C. I don't think the 99 with it being the older body style would have the cabin air filter which would plug up and reduce air flow on the 1999-2001ish GMT-800s.. Hmmm

I had a '88 3/4 ton Burb with back row seating.... that thing was a beast....named it "Bubba"

BTW the A/C works well and keeps all occupants cool even in 100* weather.

I was a Survey tech for state DOT for 30 yrs ('72-'02) and we always had a suburban. Best vehicle for our use, carry 4-5 passengers with ease and lots of work gear. For years we even pulled a large mobile office trailer to job locations. All were 1500's 2wd (fleet orange or white) until 1999 when we got a 2500HD 4x4 (pic). We used them hard, idled them a lot and never had engine or transmission failures. They were tough work trucks, could not say that for the Dudge and Furds pu's we also had which were often replaced early due for mechanical failures. Only problem was that around 2002 when I took early out they had become so expensive that they realized the could get 4+ vans for the price of 3 suburbans and they stopped providing them to survey crews, went to cc pu's, mostly Furd and Dudge, cheapest to buy.

I had 1986 blue two tone with a full load. It was the GMC version which I believe was called a Serra Grande (?) Great family vehicle especially on long trips. Kids could spread out and plenty of room for all of their toys!
