Brake light problems

Hi I'm new here but hopefully will not be a stranger....I have a 2000 Chevy S10 Blazer with some brake light issues.....The problem is when applying the brake gently/normally the top/third brake light works as it should but the other brake lights do not come on until the brake pedal is just about to the floor....I bought a new stop light switch and will be putting it in tomorrow hopefully....but just wanted to know from some one that may have experienced this problem before if I just wasted my money on a new switch......from what I understand the signal light switch can cause issues with the brake lights but I would think that if it was that the lights wouldn't work at all....Thanks in advanced to any and all info/Help.

This is why I posted this in the S10 Blazer category here....But anyways I changed the Switch and now the brake lights do not work at all but while changing the switch I noticed that right where the connector is there is a loose/bare wire that looks like it may have went to the connector itself but am not sure exactly where what I need to know is on the connector is there any spot where there is two white wires?....Thanks

well let me try this and see if anyone can help me on this....I can not figure out what is going on with the brake lights them selves and don't have the funds to take it to a garage and pay hundreds of dollars for them to trace the wiring and that sort of thing.....so my idea is to eliminate the Cab/Third Brake light and split the hot wire to the brake lights but what I need to know is can this be done?....if it can my next question would be if I done this when I use the signal lights would both lights blink at once or would they work normal?.....If they blink both at once would there be a way to this without it doing That?.....Please if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it this is the family vehicle and I do not want to get a ticket.....Thanks.
