2014 1500 Denali Towing Capacity

hi there,

I am new to the forum and had a question that I hope cold be easily answered.

I am looking at purchasing a 2104 Sierra 1500 6.2 Denali with the max trailering package and was wondering if anyone would know the towing capacity? I have a trailer (7200 LBS) that i am looking at towing and want to make sure it can handle that. I have called a dealer and I have been getting mixed opinions...one sales rep said that it cannot tow more than 9000 and another said almost 12,000. So here i am....LOL

You will be fine. You could tow your 7200lb trailer without max tow package. I'm pretty sure the stock truck will tow 9,000.

Thanks...but concerned of added weight in the trailer...guess i dont want to be too close to the limit

With the 6.2 and max tow option the 2014 manual shows 11,700 or 11,800 or 12,000 lbs depending on the drive/cab/bed configuration. I have a 2014 5.3 4WD Crew Cab Short Box with the max tow option and tow a 7,200 lbs trailer no problem. Love the integrated brake controller in it too!

depending on your cab & bed configuration, you are probly around 11,000 lbs for max tow weight. someone on here probly knows the exact spec, but I got a brochure from the dealership that told me all the numbers for the 2015 model year.

 

of course you still have to worry about tongue weight and all that. there are tons of threads about trailer weight and towing on here.

 

maybe if you answer the following someone will know the answer:

2 or 4wd, cab configuration, short or long bed?

6.2 Denali does not have the Max Trailer Package (NHT). 2014 Denali are 3.42 gears with the 6L80 for 4x4.

 

Crew cab standard box 4x4 Denali 6.2 towing capacity is 9,500 lbs. Gross Combined Weight is 15,000lbs. Weight carrying hitch tongue weight is 800lbs, with weight distribution 1,500lbs.

 

Specs are directly from the owners manual for a 2014 GMC Denali.
