Hello.

I have an 89 k2500 Silverado. 5.7l TBI

Problem with my truck is it'll crank but no spark to fire.

I came home from a 9 day vacation and jumped in the truck to go and nothing.

Asked some old guys in town what could be wrong. I put a New coil on. Nothing. They suggested the ICM. Still no spark.

Before I go chasing any more parts I figured I would ask you guys what's up. I'm sure there is a lot of knowledge here.

Thanks for the help!

Get a Haynes/Chilton manual for the wiring diagrams. If you have a circuit test light, or a volt meter, you can find out if the power supply wires are in fact getting power when the ignition is on. If they are not, then I would check the ignition switch. One other thing you can try...get a set of jumper cables. Use the one of those cables and connect it to the negative post of the battery, connect the other end of that cable to the accessory bracket of the engine (where the alternator, etc. are mounted). Then try to start it. If it starts, you've got yourself a bad engine ground. Always check both sides of the electric circuits. The power will not work without the ground.
