New Guy with a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche Z71 w/OnStar

Recommended Posts

Hello folks,

I'm Aaron Grayer and I'm a new guy here.

Short intro, I'm currently a Auto/Diesel Tech student and musician (yes, they do go together). Got hopes and dreams of working for Ohio CAT and making something of myself in the industry. I am also a die hard GM Truck fan, which is why I joined GM Trucks :D

Currently, I have an issue that I'm confronted with on my truck. I installed and wired correctly an XO VIsion X358 Single DIN In Dash Receiver. After searching to the ends of the Earth it seems like, I finally found a radio harness compatible for my truck. However, I'm still confronted with the same problem: I have to fuse the Orange (Illumination), Yellow (Radio Constant), and Red (Radio 12V Ignition) wires together for the radio to power on. As you may suspect, this mean the radio is receiving constant power. I have to pull the radio fuse under the hood to disconnect power to the radio but I noticed it also disconnects power to my speedometer, tachometer, message center, LED display in the cluster, oil pressure gauge, temperature gage, illumination in the door panels, fog lights, the light in the ashtray and the HVAC controls. I still have the factory radio and I've seen some YouTube videos of people with the same GM setup successfully but they never walk through the steps of how they did it.

Can someone here help me please? I would gladly appreciate it!
