LIFT KITS/ 2016 GMC 2500 Denali

Recommended Posts

I am new to the diesel family and I'm looking for some guidance on lift kits. I have a 2016 GMC Denali 2500HD 6.6L. I am trying to figure out what brand/size like kit to go with. I am not trying to loose my ride quality, or at least minimize the loss. So far I have been looking at Cognito, Fabtech, BDS, and Procomp. I do not want to go cheap however I want the most for my money. The majority of this trucks use will road travel to and from work with the occasional offroad.

A few things don't know are:

What is the difference between a 1200.00 kit and a 3000.00 kit?

Will it reduce excess wear if I go with the more expensive kits?

Coil overs..... are they worth it/ what's their intended use?

If I am trying to maintain decent gas mileage what combination of rims/lift should I use?

At what point in lifting my 2016 2500 would I loose my ability to park in a parking garage?

Is a leveling kit a good option to maintain ride quality?

Lastly I was looking at Procomp? has anyone put a Procomp Kit on their 2500, if so what is the ride quality???

Thank you for the help and I apologize if I am recreating a thread.

Seems to me personally, the $1200 dollar kits tend to be somewhere between a leveling kit and a lift kit. The more expensive kits tend to be drop down type real lift kits. The 4" Rancho I just had was the real deal, but it was about $3700 including installation. The drop down kits keep the geometry really nice on your angles up front.

Ok so I've been looking at Fabtrch and cognito, what is the difference between a stage one lift and a stage two? I'd still like to know how the procomp lifts ride but it doesn't seem that anyone has used them.

What's the price range of the bds coil over kit? Is it really worth the extra money to go from struts to coil over? I read that coil overs are more stuff which would make me think the ride quality isn't that great.

The kit is not on the cheap side but the ride is amazing. I just drove to Yuma AZ and back (8hrs each way) couldn't be happier, and that was on road. Off road is where it really shines. Is it necessary, no, is it a great improvement to the stock set up, yes!

Cognito is the top of the line kit and great quality. I had the BDS on my lml and it was geat too. I've also had Zone (which is their "generic" brand) and that's also a solid kit

What do you think of FTS? I liked my old Mcgauys set-up...after they fixed their front struts.

I just put a Fabtech 6" with Bilstien shocks and 37'x12.50x20 tires on my 2016 GMC 3500HD. It rides smoother than it did from the factory. I will say that it stands 7'1" to the top of the GPS antenna so most parking garages are out of the question. The turning radius has increased as well. The difference in the price of lifts are quality of materials, engineering and manufacturing practices. You get what you pay for. A good place to look is customoffsets.com. They have a wealth of information on their youtube channel for you to look at.
