Hid problem. Help!

Recommended Posts

Alright guys I installed new ddm tuning hids with the relay harness and they were working fine when the truck was running. When I turned off the truck the hids stayed on even if I switch the lights off manually. Then I switched out the relays and a couple minutes later they flickered and turned off. After that I disconnected the hid relay harness and just ran it with the ballast and bulb, and they stayed on for a couple minutes and flickered and turned off. I already checked all the fuses and all are good. I'm stumped here, I appreciate any help I receive.

I'd ask for a new relay harness. Sounds bad...

Keep us in the loop, I was thinking of going w/ the DDM HIDs since I used their kit for my UTV.

I wish their site was a little more helpful as a buyer more or less has to know what they're doing. They talk about various stuff which is pretty much Greek to a guy that just wants to replace the OEM lamps w/ something better.

I could never figure out the problem, the hids were in my dad truck. He was having problems with his power outlet when I installed the hids and the battery went about 3 weeks after I took out the hids, the dealer replaced it free, maybe they will work now. I have ddm tuning hids in my truck and they work flawless, the only thing I need is the antiflicker. f639518898595202ae14609c31d7172f.jpg953ddc2d7b5dfef71c46abfe7b68b2b5.jpg 35W 5000K they look more white in person.

Whiter than the OEM high beams I take it? I got the 5000K HIDs from XD too.

Sorry for the confusion I meant that the hids look a lot more white than blue in person. The second picture makes the hids look blue. Did you get the antiflicker? My hids fire up when I put the truck in drive (DRL's) and they make a weird buzzing noise. There's no buzzing noise when they turn on at night.

The XDs came w/ the anti-flicker modules. Does you kit use a relay set up? It'll probably be spring before I get mine installed. I hate working out in the driveway during the winter.

Yes, I got the cheaper set of hids from ddm tuning making me run the relay harness. I could of bought their most expensive kit, which is about 140, and i wouldn't need to use antiflicker or the relay harness. I'm panning on getting after market headlights or custom headlights in the future so I'll wait to get the expensive kit .

You still need a warning canceller/ anti flicker with their higher up set. I have DDM's ultra HID's (their most expensive kit) and you need a warning canceller/ anti flicker for them to work properly in the truck. The only issue is that they wont turn on with DRL's because it isn't a steady 12V's running to the headlights when they're working as DRL so they just don't come on at all. From what I read online, if you throw a resistor on it it will solve that issue
