2016 was an interesting year for GM, and for its trucks in particular. Here are the top stories of 2016, as judged by the GM-Trucks.com readership numbers on the reported stories:

LP5 Duramax Diesel Output
The most-read single story was the LP5 Duramax Diesel story and we are pleased to see it at the number one spot. The GM-Trucks.com staff made an effort to seek out and report diesel-related topics this year since it is clear they are of interest to our group. Almost without fail, reporting on the Duramax in the Colorado and Canyon, and even in the Equinox (for 2018) drew a lot of attention from the GM-Trucks.cm faithful.

Every GM Truck Model Recalled Driver Killed
Second place went to the story that GM recalled each model of its trucks and full-size SUVs over software issues related to airbags. The story also was the most talked about in the comments section. Everyone has an opinion on airbags and when they don’t work right people are angry.

Chevy Makes Ford’s Bed Look Pathetic in Commercial
Who didn’t love watching the steel Chevy Silverado truck bed make the Ford aluminum bed look weak? We all know that Chevy is headed towards aluminum in all of its vehicles, but we all shared a good laugh when the folks at Chevy realized that bricks puncture the Ford bed and bounce off the Chevy bed. More than one member pointed out that composite may even be a better solution, something Honda also thought of and had some fun with in a follow-up video.

Brake Recall
This recall story was specific to police versions of GM vehicles, but the comments were what made it interesting. The group did a little “self-policing” and reminded the readership (and the staff) that this is a Pro-GM forum. We take that to heart and do look to report the positives from GM as often as possible.

Chevrolet Launches the Colorado ZR2
The ZR2 story above was not the sum total of this topic for the year. If we combined the discussions, this would have been in third place. Every GM-Trucks.com member is rooting for the ZR2 to stomp the Tacoma TRD Pro and we can’t wait to read the matchup stories in 2017. One member of the GM-Trucks.com staff has his eye on a diesel ZR2 for long-term testing.

GM Headlight Issues Validated by IIHS Testing
Like the ZR2 topic, headlight problems have been widely read and commented on. We all think the folks at IIHS are a bit overzealous in many ways, but they are brand-neutral, and when GM’s headlights scored poorly in comparison to the competition a lot of us were not surprised.

GM’s Four-Camera System
This topic was a surprise in its popularity. Going forward we will look for more trailer-related topics to report on and for products to test ourselves.

Special Edition Trucks –
We broke out this topic for last, but it could easily have been the first topic on this list of popular subjects had we combined the views into one topic. Our group loves to read about concept trucks, but particularly those that make it to production as special editions. It is interesting that the All-Terrain X is number one, followed very closely by Costco’s special edition. Below are the SE topics in order of views and comments.
All Terrain
Costco
Realtree Silverado
High desert –
Carhartt Concept
