Need Plow for 2500 HD

Recommended Posts

My current plow truck is an 03 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Curtis (I think they are called SnoPro now) plow. I just purchased a Sierra 2500 as a daily driver tow vehicle and plow truck. Just doing my own very long gravel driveway. The Curtis was okay. No real complaints other than the design was PIA to fix when lines needed to be replaced. So I'm looking at either a Fisher 8' or Boss 8'. One thing I like about the Boss is that they make a replacement bumper trim kit so you don't have to cut the factory one. I see a lot around here.

Any thoughts on the Boss? How are they to hitch and unhitch. The Curtis wasn't bad since it had a hydraulic stand.

Thanks

I use a Snowsport HD on my 2500 for doing my 900' gravel drive and around outbuildings. Even use it to cut a path sometimes to the highway 2 miles away since we are left to hind tit by the country sometimes. Leaves gravel where it should be and won't scalp turf. I put a winch on mine to lift it via wireless remote. $1500 total cost. Maybe not as "cool" or "macho" as some other plow setups, but darn good results.

Thanks for the responses. Anyone install their own? Whats involved. I'm pretty handy and a buddy of mine installed his own Fisher and said it was pretty straight forward. Are the electrics plug and play? Any drilling??? Could save me about $300 if I do it myself.

Also trip edge or moldboard trip? My Curtis is moldboard trip and I think it scrapes and back blades better than my neighbors trip edge Fisher. Thoughts?

Just a follow up, I bought the Boss V-TX V -Plow and had it installed by the dealer. Only used it once so far with only 5" of snow. One thing I will say is my 2500 doesn't even seem to know the plow in on there. My old Dodge use to sag in the front bad even with the helper bump stops. I hated traveling with the plow on. I drove this truck an hour home from the dealer and it was like driving without it on. The new LED plow lights are great! as good as or maybe better than the factory HIDs!

Need some help guys. Want to put a western mid weight plow on my silverado 2500hd. The plow dealer needs to take off the front bumper and grill but claims nothing will change. No cutting of bumper, etc. What does everyone think? Any concerns? The plow dealer in my area has a good following.
