the net has been great, I only knew the 350 as rare until the worst versions they ever made.

70s-80s.

I have pulverized a few into chunks.

they almost recovered with the L31.

but no. they didn't. :)

funny as hell, the real path of gm stuff.

the 305 is in the top 3 of the entire planet of all time.

I guess it splits the real workers from the fairy tales.

Now just +.3 liters away has been the world renowned workhorse for everyone for 15 years.

kinda like some of dodge's big motors. Some think they are all good.

I am glad kids don't have to live and learn this stuff anymore.

I guess I'm reading Barry G right. The small block from 265-400 small block was the best ever made. I've had dozens of them real work horses, especially if you consider the early ones had to run with carburetors and points. The one I have now is 25 years old has been stroked half its life and blown all its life. Same thing with the dodge big blocks, ford 302, my brother been racing a 440 for 20 years just refreshed it. I guess some people have trouble with simple engines.

All during my school days the 327 was the King of the Hill in the small block world. Enter the LT1 and the world made a half turn backward first time someone dropped the hammer on one.

Then 1972 happened. For awhile crate motor sales were off the hook. A legend was born in those first 370ph/350's. It would take nearly three decades for the SBC to recover from the smog years. To much asked to soon from people that didn't know how yet by people that should have known better then. We are going to repeat that with mandated fuel numbers. Sorry Barry, kids will have to learn it again...and again...and again. :banghead:
