USB Phone Charging

I have read in numerous places how the USB Ports fail to charge a phone. I am in that group. Surely someone has found a work around for this issue? For those of you that don'e know what I mean: I use Android auto. To use it you must be plugged into the USB port. But when you run it your phone doesn't charge the phone or does so at a very low rate that won't keep up. Surely someone has figured out how to increase the voltage to the USB port so it will charge the phone and run android auto at the same time.

I only have 169 miles on my 2017 Colorado Z71 (insert smile here!) I have a Galaxy 7 and it charges very quickly. Not to hijack your thread but...I was using Android Car Play and the Nav function worked great for a while and then it went stupid after I made a stop and unplugged the phone. Now the truck does not bring up the CarPlay logo when I plug the phone in. Not a big deal, but a little frustrating.
