Why not just use the App on your phone?

Batteries last 6-7 years in these FOBs, I only change them when they get bellow 3 volts but they work fine until about 2.7 volts in GMs.

I have the exact same problem at home. It's not your battery, it took me a while to figure out why it worked fine from the house 60' away and I couldn't get it to work once outside until I was almost at the truck. What was even weirder is when I was at Wally World it would start from 100' away. Then it struck me there's and FM radio transmitter not too far from our house, so I looked up what frequency it was transmitting on and bingo 105.1fm. The third harmonic is 315.3MHz and you guessed it the FOBs run @ 315 Mhz. The fm transmitter jams the FOB, Inside the house you are somewhat shielded especially me with the steel roof and explains why it works inside and not out. I proved it by taking one of the stainless steel salade bowls using it as a shield and a somewhat parabolic reflector and my remote works perfectly outside. So this confirmed to me that their was nothing wrong with the FOB or the system.

Pretty sure it is mentioned in the user manual. ''Distance may be reduced where fm transmission are pronounced''.

If you don't take your phone to the gym, how do you take your selfies?

Guys I'm curious how your remote starts work? Not the phone app...But the key fob. From the house I can lock unlock and start the truck...Distance is only 30 or so feet and not direct line of sight.
But say I'm outside walking to the truck and I'm roughly 50..60 ft away with a perfect line of sight I get nothing...No lock unlock or anything until I'm right on top of the truck... Kinda defeats the purpose. Curious if anyone else has noticed this or maybe figured something out. The key fob battery is a yr old. Would the batt be at the end of life? Would love to know if there is a fix or if the RS just sucks

Mine works from at least 100' outdoors.

The part that amazes me is I work from home and my office is in the basement -towards the back middle of my house. I can hit the key fob and it starts up out in the driveway.

Out of the owner's manual

Changes or modifications to this system by other than an authorized service facility could void authorization to use this equipment.
If there is a decrease in the RKE operating range, try this:
• Check the distance. The transmitter may be too far from the vehicle. Stand closer during rainy or snowy weather.
• Check the location. Other vehicles or objects may be blocking the signal. Take a few steps to the left or right, hold the transmitter higher, and try again.
• Check the transmitter's battery. See "Battery Replacement" later in this section.
• If the transmitter is still not working correctly, see your dealer/retailer or a qualified technician for service.

Use the OnStar App, It will start from any distance! And you don't have to wonder if the truck started. I think the app is free for 5 years if i remember correctly on 2014 and free for life on newer. The key fob on the app lets you Lock/Un-lock Start, Stop and honk horn and light.

I believe it was 3 years on 2014 and 5 years on 2015+ if I remember correctly.
