Found a budget 3.5" Stainless cat back for my 17' 6.2

Recommended Posts

I wanted to delete the ugly factory 3"/3.5" resonator crazy tailpipe and muffler off this truck from the minute I drove it off the lot. With the price of cat backs today, I set out to create a budget friendly mandrel bent stainless steel exhaust. I think I did that with this Dynomax hybrid exhaust.

The truck is my 2017 GMC Sierra CC All Terrain with the 6.2, about 3700 miles on her at the time of install.

Anyone ever purchased this exhaust from World Wide Performance (Also known as MVP Auto Parts)?

They are local to me, and I just picked one up. All I wanted was the tailpipe and extension piece for the muffler. The kit was nice, all stainless with solid looking hangers.

I took it and Dynomax 17517 muffler over to my local exhaust shop to handle the install, and I wanted the whole thing welded (not a fan of clamps). The sound is great, a little bit of helicopter noise at about 60-65 mph in V4, but nothing a little turn of the volume wouldn't take care of.

Total Spent:

Dynomax 17517 $68 shipped

WWP 3.5" 409 Stainless catback $199 pickup with taxes

Install and welding $60

All in total for a mandrel bent 409 Stainless Steel Dynomax hybrid catback installed: $327

Dynomax muffler and extension piece (this is the piece that if you were installing the whole catback, and had the 6.5' bed)

Outlet of Dynomax and the hangers before the tailpipe.

2 really shitty pictures of the tail pipe haha

Includes a 5" rolled exhaust tip.

Picture of the Intermediate pipe and muffler, that came with the kit, that I decided not to use. I'll be selling these locally for a little spare cash, since I have no use for them.

Muffler is a straight thru 3.5" muffler.

Extra muffler looks like a Jones view into the outlet. Somebody will probably get a good deal.

You did on your installed system.

Yah not sure what brand of muffler it is, but I have no use for it. Somebody will be able to make a cheap muffler swap out of it

I just purchased and installed this kit with the included muffler, it's definitely loud and drones too much for me. However, for 185 shipped for a full stainless mandrel bent exhaust I can't complain too much. Plan on ordering a 12909 to quiet it down some. Shipping was quick as well

Nice! That 12909 will be pretty quiet, just as a FYI.

do you have AFM turned off?

If answer to that is yes, is the drone the annoying bass sound when cruising at say 40 or 60?

how loud is loud? these trucks are soooo quiet stock. my neighbor has the older gen 6.2 in a 2012 Yukon and the stock sound on that is awesome.

I am toying between Muffler delete, this system or the Gibson. I had MBRP in the mix, but I hear that is way to loud and raspy....

Truck has the stock tune, AFM active. The drone I get is between ~1500-2000 during acceleration, very boomy and louder than the rest of the range. The drone wouldn't be that bad if the truck didn't operate most of the time in that range during traffic, which is most of my commute. The exhaust has the same volume in that RPM range at part throttle that it does at full throttle in the rest of the RPM range. Having a 12909 welded in this afternoon to hopefully remedy the situation.
