Clicking or popping gas pedal.

Recommended Posts

Ok I think I remember seeing something about this a while ago but not sure. I have a 2015 sierra sle. When I'm on and off the gas, like in stop and go traffic the gas pedal creeks and pops. Has any one else had this issue? If so what did you/dealer do to fix it?

Oh yea, I'm on my 3rd pedal now, and its starting to creak and pop. They replace the pedal (they call it a throttle position sensor). Are you getting sluggish throttle response with yours? I noticed sluggish response on my last pedal and it definitely went away with the new one.

Not really sure. I'm going to take it to dealer. Just wanted to know if anyone else had this and what they did. I just hope when I take it there it does it. Don't want them to say there is nothing wrong with it.

There's a thread somewhere where some guys were putting shims behind the pedals to increase response from their gas pedal. May give it a shot if you can find it. One guy used part of a wooden paint stirrer I think lol

Well taking my truck in Thursday to have the dealer look at gas pedal. When I asked them if they have had anyone else have this problem they said I was the first one. Hope they fix it and don't say they could not find anything wrong with it.

My gas pedal creaked when I first bought my truck but only at colder temperatures. The dealership had to put in some foam around the touching plastic parts and it fixed the problem.

Well I got truck back today. They put new pedal assembly on it it. Got about 2 miles from my dealer same popping sound. I sure hope they can figure it out. Going to take it back next week.

I would say the new pedal didn't fix anything because the new pedal, like the old, is scrubbing by the same area and causing the noise. Mine would usually do it the worst when the truck was started on a cold morning and the heat was warming everything up in the cab.

Update...got my truck back from dealer, they reinforced bracket that gas peadel mounts to. And they did say they did something with plastic on pedal. Any way feels way better and more firm. And I do notice better throttle response. So far so good.

I am on my third one. First one developed a squeak at 4,000 miles. Local dealer pulled the "it's normal" routine. I showed them video of the same year make model as mine... After some talking they agreed to swap it with a new one. Took new pedal assembly out of sealed box in front of me, tested it myself with service supervisor it squeaked. Found one that did not, put that one in and it felt sticky. Thought I would try it and hope it would go away to no avail. So a third pedal goes in 2000 miles on this one and all is well. Of course mine was the only one they had ever seen do this.
