Dealer Decals

Recommended Posts

Am I the only person who finds the decals dealers apply to a new truck irritating? You pay $50,000 for a new truck and it gets used to advertise the dealership? That and dealer plates. Has anyone had any luck insisting advertising be removed or not applied to begin with?

Every time I've bought a new vehicle I've told the dealer I won't take delivery until all of their stickers are removed. I'm fine with them throwing on a plate surround as those are going to get swapped out by me anyway.

The dealer I just dealt with for my new truck doesn't even do stickers any more. I guess a good number of people were requesting that they remove them.

Do you service at the dealership that put their decal on there? Most service departments give priority service to vehicles that came from the dealership... so don't cut your nose off to spite your face.

If you still want it off, just use a heat gun to warm it up and take any residue off with alcohol. Use a soft cloth rag, not paper towel to avoid swirling/scratching the finish.

In my experience service departments don't give a rat's ass where the vehicle was bought. They are a totally seperate department. If anything, they openly disdain the sales force.

Nope hate em also. I don't mind a license plate frame (easily removable) but no decals. I have told the dealership with all my recent vehicles a decal no sale

I've always asked them for $1000 for the advertising or had them take it off. They've always taken them off.

I don't like that decal on my truck either. When I ordered my truck I told him I didnt want a decal put on the tailgate . He said at least leave the license plate frame on . I took it off when I got home.

I always have them remove it or ask it not be put on and have never had a problem. One time I bought a car in MA and they delivered it to my house in NH and I could see the salesman trying to take it off in my driveway since he forgot to have it taken off prior. That car did have the name of the dealer around the license plate and I did not mind that too much. It was a 58k Audi so I get what you are saying about paying a lot to advertise.
