Best High Gloss Removable Automotive Coating?

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I've been using plasti dip for several years now . I started experimenting with the glossifier a couple years ago when it was released, but never could achieve the gloss result I was looking for.

Fast forward a couple years, and I've got the dip bug again. I don't want to have parts painted, or buy new primered ones for painting, as I like the freedom to change things easily and do them myself while saving money. I'm looking to knock out bumpers and grille surround this time around, and for input and experiences with the options below. Please add any other product/s I am unaware of.

I'm debating buying a quart of the high gloss topcoat/clear with black pearls premixed in it from dip your car to see how it looks. This stuff is new to me and looks promising for a high gloss finish. Has anyone used the topcoat plain or mixed from DipYourCar?

Other options I've been looking into to achieve a high gloss finish and looking for anyone with input on:

-Autodip vinyl based spray.

-Raail Airwrap or Protek.

The Autodip looks real promising, shame it only comes in cans. I won't need a whole lot of it either way. Cost is higher, but the cans are bigger; and you won't need any other products to achieve the high gloss look. Price-wise, it looks to be in the same ballpark you'd be in going plastidip/topcoat. One can that gives you the ability to change the color, get a similar oem style gloss, and the ability to peel back off is really tempting.

Anyone with any experience with the DipYourCar high gloss topcoat/finishing clear, Autodip, or Raail products? I have a descent spray gun, so aerosol isn't my only option here; I also don't need gallons of leftover product either. This is a pretty small scale project, and some of the options out there are for way more product than I need (looking at you autoflex).

I have went down the regular vinyl wrap road, I know this is a great option. While it is really really close in finish to my paint, I just don't have the patience or enough experience to work with it on anything larger than an emblem or mirror cap.

Also to save heartache, I know how much these trucks cost as I own one myself. I know how some think this stuff is considered way to cheap to touch your glorious machine. If that is your opinion, I respect it and I expect it to stay your opinion, instead of forming into an online forum posting.

Yes but I ended up peeling it as I ran out of time. I was attempting to shoot my winter wheels but it got late in the year and I ran out of time.

How's it do when you wash it? Looks like it will be a lot easier with the "slick" finish. PD on my old truck kept getting bugs and debris embedded in it and almost impossible to get it out without damaging.
