Nice fish. I'd love to have some land with some ponds. What did you catch them on?

yeah its a nice place.. .70 acres with 3 large stocked ponds.. i've been managing it for about 13 yrs.. finally reaping from all the work...

mine was caught on a zoom speedcraw... watermelon candy red.. with a little chartreuse dip n dye on the claws... my buddies was caught with a super speedcraw, watermelon seed.

I'm up in Dallas and would LOVE to fish. Unfortunately, I am bound by the local city ponds :( and cheap 'ol store bought reels. Enough to get some bonding time with my boys. Would love to really get "into" it but like everything else, I tend to go overboard with any new "hobby" Pick up. Like this truck... guns... etc.

thats what i use.. .there easy to get use to.. you can tighten the spool up when you cast... .. cast a few times.. then slowly loosen the spool.. .. but to this day i still get bird nests.. lol

My truck is basically my kayak's chauffeur. Fishing is life lol. So glad someone started this type of thread! Haven't been out but 2 times this year, raised 2 musky while targeting brown fish, haven't landed anything worth a picture yet so I'll throw up my last 2 nice ones.

My PB smallie 22.75" little over 5# caught mid October on a buzzbait.

Ripped this lip couple weeks later in the beginning of November, 20" on the dot 4.11#

Edit* great greenfish OP! Any measurements on either? I'm on a river or creek 95% of the time and lakes/reservoirs the other 5. If I'm ever in Texas I need to get a line wet in your pond bud!

man awesome small jaws!.. .you'd love it down here. .i work right next to lake austin, and they are doing a draw down right now... kayak heaven!!... lake austin produces a ton of share lunkers.. probably our best centrally located lake down here!... my biggest out of it was 12.6...!..

my problem around here are the guys who will keep anything they catch. pisses me off when i see someone take a 3" sunfish and stick it in their pocket. smh

i agree.. i have a slot limit on my lakes... so 14' i keep for the grease...

There's plenty of those in every state. I see it all the time. If you're within your legal right to keep fish, I have no problems with it. It's the guys keeping a stringer of 8-10" smallies to "eat"; when that size goes against the slot limit anyway. You'll be lucky to get one serving of fish off of the whole stringer.

That's why I turned to kayak fishing. I can get to all the spots no one bank fishing can get to, plus all the spots a boat can, and then I can go to all the spots a boat can't get to on top of it all; or anyone else for that matter unless they are hiking for several hours lol.

I'm strictly CPR (catch photo release). I'll throw a fish on my fish grips attached to a 3' tether and let em swim around while I get my camera and measuring board ready. Once I'm all set I'll pull it out of the water to get a few quick pictures and then let em go to let em grow.

here's one more... caught this at the end of last yr.... ol mr green jeans!!... .

now fishing lakes.. like public, i dont keep anything... .. like you skeeter.... CPR!.... .. but my private ponds, in order to manage for trophy bass, i do have to take fish out.. they say 25lb per acre per yr... which is hard when i'm primarly the only one fishing..... but i love some good ol fried fish!!

I'm on a bunch of kayak fishing groups on Facebook. I've seen a ton of absolute green lunkers come out of Texas in general. I probably would lose my job if I was in your shoes bc I'd call in sick and they'd see me floating lol.

I'm in West Virginia, I fish the New River mostly, world renowned small jaw fishery. I wouldn't have it any other way. Our lakes see heavy pressure almost year round, they are more of a challenge for me; moving water and brownfish are my favorites.
