7" Lift Kit Not Sitting Level

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I am trying to figure out what is going on with my 2014 Sierra 1500 lift kit that I bought from Rough Country. As you can see below in the pictures, it is not level after the lift. My measurements from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender are: 28.5" Front, 30.5" Rear. So you can see there is a 2" difference which is about what it has from the factory in terms of rake if I am not mistaken. When I spoke to Rough Country their response was "each truck sits a tad different from factory and it sounds like yours was tad lower than normal from factory". I'm pretty sure they would have noticed if the truck sat an entire 2" lower at the factory.

Can you guys help me figure out what is going on???

Thanks!

Is the front equipped with torsion bars? Not familiar with the newer trucks suspensions.

1/2 tons haven't had torsion bars since early 2007

Well with that being said you bought a straight up lift kit that just raises your truck from factory and not a level lift. Your only options would be to A: raise the front more with a different set up or B: lower the rear with different blocks as Jimmy said.

The RCX 7.5 kit maxes out the angles so you really can't/shouldn't add additional spacers to the front, so smaller rear blocks arevindeed his only viable option. All lift kits for 07-17 (meaning they have new knuckles and cross member drops) are only adjustable in the front if you add leveling spacers or adjustable coilovers. Much different from torsion bars where you just have to adjust the keys.

Did they install the lower strut spacer as well..I've had many trucks with the exact kit as long as with friends and the most rake I have ever seen is about 1 inch...maybe the install shop forgot to install them or RCX maybe didn't send it...

The 7.5 lift has the larger upper strut spacer and new knuckles and the 7 inch kit has the smaller upper strut spacer along with a lower strut spacer and retains the factory knuckles..that's why yours looks different..and the rear blocks are 7 inches for the 7 inch and 7.5 for the 7.5 inch maybe they sent the rear blocks for the 7.5..??, since you have the lower strut spacer in place....how's the ride..??

We figured out that they sent the wrong upper strut spacer and that it is too small for the 7" kit (hence why I rub when I get close to full lock). Thanks to hou1ptt who sent me some pictures of his setup (you can instantly tell his strut spacer is larger) and informed that he has zero rub at all. I called rough country and they are going to send me the correct set of upper spacers. As for the ride, it rides fine despite the rubbing issue and the fact that there is a very noticeable difference in height between the front and rear.

I will let you guys know as soon as the new strut spacers come in. My current ones measured 5" and the ones they are sending (the same as hou1ptt's) measure 7".
