05 Silverado, 4WD is horrible.

Just as the title says, my 4wd capabilities are much like being in 2wd. It WILL engage into 4wd, and my tires are at least 70% all around.

 

So tell me why I keep sliding around in the snow unless I feather the gas pedal?

 

FWIW my suspension is all fine.... however, I do have another possibly related issue. when I make a HARD left turn, seems my rear end wants to lock up sometimes.

 

Any opinions?

The 2005 crew 4x4 was awesome in the snow especially with the factory Firestone Destination A/t tires. Problem was that before I turned it in as a lease the auto trac transfer case was whining and groaning while in 4x4.

I think we need to know more about the truck and the symptoms.

Sliding in snow is tires, nothing more, nothing less...4wd won't make up for poor tires.

No, it locks up (not always) whether in 2wd or 4wd.

Well, ok, but I'm going to take pic of my tires and post them here to prove that they have meat on them.

 

HOWEVER, the one and only time I had money to put 4 brand spanking new tires + alignment on my 2000 Toyota Camry, that thing drove straight and solid like it was on a rail, and tacked 6" of snow uphill no problem. I hate to think I need new tires after what I paid for my truck.

 

Oh btw, ANY time I turn right, be it from a dead stop or city driving, the right rear tire ALWAYS breaks loose. Even on bare dry asphalt. Been meaning to check into that.

About five minutes from Cabelas...do a lot of camping up your way.

If you can post a couple pics of your tires we would be glad to give you opinions on their snow capabilities. I've had just about every tire out there it seems and being in Michigan we see our fair share of the nasty white stuff.
