My 06 silverado takes an oil filter for an 07!! How does this

Recommended Posts

So i recently bought an 06 Silverado LT with the 5.3 in it. I bought a k&n oil filter for an 06, part hp-1007 and couldnt get it to spin on. So thinking that i just bought a bad filter i went and bought a Wix XP filter for My model year, got home couldnt get it on either.. So i looked at the filter i pulled off my rig and cross referenced the part number n bought another Wix one but the part number shows its for an 07. So my question is does this mean someone did a motor swap? Or did they somehow put an 07 motor in at the factory? How would i findout for sure what motor i have? Is there an ID number on the block??

Thats what i wandered, if maybe it was built towards the end of the model year and they put an 07 in there. Sounds legit.. The one oil filter that fit is a Wix XP 57060, the k&n i bought was part hp1007 and it wouldnt thread on the stud, it was too small.. Thanks for your guys input

What is the wix number? I haven't heard of someone swapping a gen 4 into a GMT800. It didn't come from the factory that way.

Is what I texted you about a couple weeks ago with my friends 07 classic. Took a gen 4 filter. It was the same engine as your truck by VIN and head casting. Would have had 799 castings if it was a Gen 4
